How to Recover Data from Broken/Dead iPad

Step 1. Run the app and connect iPad to the computer
Run iPad Data Recovery app after you download and install it on your computer. Connect your iPad to the computer via USB cable. The app will detect your device after connected and you'll get the interface below. You have three recovery modes: "Recover from iOS Device", "Recover from iTunes Backup File" and "Recover from iCloud Backup File". Here, choose the recovery mode of "Recover from iOS Device".
I. For iPad with Retina display, iPad mini, new iPad and iPad 2 (support to retrieve contacts, SMS, notes, call history, calendars, Safari bookmarks and reminders)
II. For iPad 1 (supports to retrieve contacts, messages, camera roll, photo stream, photo library, notes, call history, voice memos, calendars, reminders and Safari bookmarks)
If the recovery app can detect your iPad successfully, you can choose "Advanced Mode" at the corner of the window to get a deeper scan, then you need to enter the scanning mode by following the steps displayed in the window.
1. Hold your device and click "Start" button.
2. Then press the "Power" and "Home" buttons at the same time for exactly 10 seconds.
3. After 10 seconds, release the "Power" button, but keep pressing the "Home" button for another 15 seconds.
When you are entered the scanning mode successfully, release the "Home" button and the app will scan your iPad directly.
Step 2. Preview and recover iPad data
Afer finishing scanning, all founded data are in order. You can preview them one by one and choose those you want and save them on your computer by clicking "Recover" button.
Note: Data found here includes deleted data and those still on your iPad. If you only want to recover your deleted ones, you can refine the scan result by using the slide button at bottom to only display deleted items.
Step 1. Launch the iPad backup extractor and select the backup files
After installing the iPad Data Recovery on your computer, taking Mac version as an example, you will get a main interface as below. select the suitable device type which you want to recover data from.Then choose the mode of "Recover from iTunes Backup File", and the app will scan and detect all the iTunes backups automatically. Click the "Start Scan" button to scan your iPad data from iTunes backup to continue.
Step 2. Extract iPad backup files
When finishing the scan, all the backup file are listed and displayed in categories. You can preview them one by one and mark the data you want to extract to your computer with the "Recover" button.
